<description>Thanks for sharing your “get-together memoirs” in the Philippines and San Francisco. I just couldn’t deem that it has been forty years since I saw you wearing your “below the knee bluish gray uniforms” with matching white aprons and nurses caps. Of course, I did remember all of you wearing hair nets to go with the caps. Lucky for me, I was on a Public Health Nursing duty tour when the grand unforgotten Miss Tupaz decided that student male nurses wear aprons. Talking about “equal rights,” Miss Tupaz was way ahead of her time to mandate such a “welcoming parity.” Since I was out on the field, it could have been rewarding if guys wore caps as well. Looking back, for me, it was pure liberalism. I truly marveled the display of easiness and conformity on the part of the guys particularly Bert over this mandate (smile).

It seems like only yesterday when:

•Delia Gumban had a haircut in the barber shop. The result was a fashion statement. My only regret, I was not able to capture it in a photo to share with you.

•Delia’s trip to California to meet her hubby Steve. Talking about sharing one’s destiny, there’s nothing old fashion about it. If one was willing to have a barber cut her hair, making a trip to California and be married was not a surprise. It was a whirlwind courtship and a one shot deal, I loved her for that.

Regardless of the passing years and the distance between us, at any time of the day or night, we can draw close to each other by remembering memories we bring and most of all through our prayers.

I truly thank the Lord that I can be with you not just in thoughts and prayers but most of all in spirit. For now, I send you love, peace, joy, prosperity and good health. As in a song, “It seems like only yesterday, down the road we go.”

Blessings,
